Education & Support - In the next few year we would like to hold 2 group meetings at the same time. One for Caregivers & the other for Individuals (18-60) with Epilepsy. Providing education at the meetings, Q&A and supportive socialization at the meetings. Training of Schools (teachers and nurses) at the county/district levels. Fundraising once a year to help support our family fun events.
Family Fun: To have two activities per year to provide family fun, Summer and Winter events. One Service Project in the Spring to give back to the church that houses our meetings. We would like to eventually have Mom's groups, Dad's groups, Epilepsy Camps for children/siblings and Epilepsy Day at an Sports Event.
Advocacy & Policy: Every year on March 26th make awareness for World Purple Day by wearing Purple. Every November (Epilepsy Awareness Month) to provide awareness to our schools, businesses and government agencies thru different means. We encourage all members to meet with your local State House Representatives and Senators to advocate for you or your family member.
Who We Are:
The Triangle Area Epilepsy Group is a group of families, individuals and relatives with children/adults with Epilepsy. We are growing and now include adults with Epilepsy!!!
We have two Facebook pages: Triangle Area Epilepsy Parents Support Group AND Triangle Area Epilepsy Adults Group (NEW). Please help us grow our adults fb page by telling your friends in the area about the new fb page
We meet on Tuesday nights at Brooks Avenue Church of Christ. We have two separate rooms that are across the hall from each other.
We will future )=(2020)access to another room for our Adult group meeting as well!
What to Expect at a Meeting:
What you can expect at a meeting is connection with other parents/caregivers/individuals with compassion and understanding of what you are going through, sharing and learning from one another in a confidential atmosphere. We will also have various topics and education about epilepsy.
